On our trip to the Valley of the 1000 hills we also went towards Pietermaritzburg. The pictures below shows what is left over after a large housing area was torn down by the government. The neat piles, each representing a single house were quite a disturbing visual. It had the aura of a memorial, one that was not designed, but that had grown naturally. People now come and collect left overs from the houses and bricks and other materials to build new houses.
This set of images was taken at the Howick waterfall near Howick. The Umgeni River plunges close to 100m into the gorge below.
