I went to the valley of a 1000 hills about two weeks ago. The plan was to go out to the country side and take pictures of the landscape and the people. To catch the morning light, which is amazing in South Africa, because the sun is so low on this half of the earth, we went really really early. Too early to see any people because they must have either still been asleep or in church. We had a great time anyway and did get some good shots, I think. This wall shows all the winners of the Comrades marathon, which is 90K from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.
I am a big fan of hand drawn typography. Breaking up the strict structure of a real font by (re-)drawing it just adds some live to text. About two weeks ago I found this cover design of the Sunday Magazine. It is designed by a company called Disturbance, which also did the layout of the magazine, which I really like. Anyways, the font on the cover inspired me to a blog about typography.

I went to see this on Saturday. Definitely watchable but not a must, the best thing was the fact that 3 tickets for the cinema cost less than 1 in London. Note to myself: must go to the cinema lots here!
i-jusi (ie-juice-ie) is a South African magazine published by Orange Juice Design, Durban. I think they do 2 issues a year, and each one is full of really exciting graphic design. Every issue focuses on a different topic (i.e. death, brand, city etc.), but in a very unconventional and unrestricted way. Everything is bold and colourful and uses typography with a very brave approach. I really like it.
I am currently enjoying the company of two very beautiful dogs. One is a Ridgeback, called Zipper, and the other one is a Golden Retriever, called Nugget.
